OUR ETHOS

Why is ordering from the Reyass Bug one of the best investments you can make to protect & develop the natural world?

Our collection of insects are ethically sourced from conservation breeding programs worldwide. We work closely with entomologists who operate conservation farms to purchase captive-bred insects that have been allowed to live out their full life cycle in optimal conditions. By supporting these conservation efforts, we contribute to the preservation of insect populations and their habitats.

SUPPORTING SUSTAINABLE CAPTIVE BREEDING FARMS

Our brand is dedicated to supporting sustainable captive breeding farms and conservation breeding and reintroduction programs that work to manage populations of threatened species and reintroduce them into the wild. By purchasing our products, you’re helping to ensure that these programs can continue to grow wild populations of these beautiful creatures. Our suppliers also commit to releasing some of the newly bred native species back into the wild. Additionally, by working with affordable captive breeding suppliers, we reduce the risk of illegal collection from the wild.

ARE ANY BUGS KILLED FOR FRAMING PURPOSES?

The Reyass Bug is committed to an ethical approach, and we do not kill any bugs for framing purposes. As mentioned, butterflies typically live only 1-2 days, with some living up to 4 weeks. Once they have hatched from their pupae, their sole purpose is to reproduce. Some species even transform with no way of feeding. The butterfly will find a nice spot to lay its eggs and then its journey is complete. We source our specimens from conservation projects and captive breeding programs, ensuring that no harm is inflicted on the insects in our collection.
